11 TV Hill: What JHM patients who are UHC policy holders should do

This week, UnitedHealthcare and Johns Hopkins Medicine made it official: After months of back-and-forth talks, they've stopped contract negotiations — each entity blaming the other. In a statement, Johns Hopkins Medicine said: "UnitedHealthcare refused to agree to reasonable contract language, instead insisting that we agree to terms that would make it difficult for us to provide patient care." UnitedHealthcare said it was Johns Hopkins that walked away from negotiations, stating, in part, it's "because we will not agree to language that allows it to refuse treatment for any member with an employer-based plan it does not want to do business with." The question many have is what this means for patients? And, what should they do now? 11 TV Hill took your queries to Maryland's insurance commissioner, Marie Grant.
