Afghanistan has outrightly rejected Trump’s calls to reclaim Bagram airbase. Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said they wouldn't part even with a ‘meter of land’. Taliban Army chief said Afghanistan wasn’t afraid of ‘America or its allies'. This comes days after Trump’s initial call to reclaim the airbase. On Sept 21, the US President said ‘bag things’ would happen is Afghanistan didn't concede. During his UK visit as well, on Sep 18, Trump said US was determined to get Bagram back. On Sept 20, Trump termed surrender of the Bagram airbase as ‘most embarrassing day in the history of US’. Notably, the withdrawal of American forces in 2021 led to a takeover of the base by the Islamist Taliban movement
