Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) says she plans to file a resolution that aims to strip Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) of her committee assignments after Omar's remarks about Charlie Kirk following his assassination.
Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., on Monday posted images of a House resolution on X that calls for Omar’s removal from the Committee on Education and Workforce and the Committee on Budget.
"BREAKING: We’re filing a resolution to strip @Ilhan of her committee assignments after her disgraceful remarks on Charlie Kirk’s assassination," Mace wrote in the post.
Omar responded to the attempts to censure her on X, writing, "to those claiming they're for free speech while punishing and silencing those for exercising that right: You're not pro-free speech."
Mace was expected to introduce the resolution on the House floor on Tuesday as a "privileged resolution," meaning the House has until the end of Thursday to consider it. House leaders, however, may call it up for a vote earlier.
LiveNOW's Andy Mac spoke about the censure attempt with Savannah Behrmann from National Journal.
