A low pressure area sits to the northwest of Scotland bringing persistent showers in this region as well as across the west of England, Wales and Ireland, through the morning. This will be accompanied by strong winds and coastal gales in Scotland. Unsettled weather in the afternoon will bring scattered rain showers, some turning heavy and thundery, across the UK.
