More helicopters are transported into London for President Trump's trip aboard 'Marine 1'. One is quickly assembled for a flight of six over the UK's capital. The arrival of C-17s also prompts police to shut the road and clear plane spotters from the jet-blast area.
US Air Force C-17A Globemaster IIIs transported two VH-3D Sea King helicopters into RAF Northolt, joining another that arrived the day before (as seen at: https://youtu.be/_6JoeGBbuiM ). The presidential helicopters are operated by Marine Helicopter Squadron 1 (HMX-1) of the US Marine Corps, and may take the callsign 'Marine One' when the Commander-In-Chief is on board.
Two VH-3D Sea Kings joined up with three CH-47 Chinooks of the US Army in Germany for a rehearsal flight over London, to Windsor Castle and Chequers. The swarm was escorted by a Eurocopter EC-135 of the National Police Air Service. The event was witnessed by many locals and plane spotters who had come to see the spectacle; braving torrential downpours and high winds (that sent hats flying).
In total, three US Marine Corps VH-3D Sea Kings and six US Army CH-47 Chinooks have arrived in London to support President Donald Trump's trip, flying his staff, the press corps and security teams from the US Secret Service.
The President of the United States has been invited to stay at Windsor Castle with King Charles III and Queen Camilla on his second State Visit to the United Kingdom. He was last hosted by Queen Elizabeth II on his first State Visit in 2019. A large security entourage will accompany the president on his travels, utilizing multiple aircraft and motorcades.
