The Reform Party hoped to grab headlines at their annual conference in Birmingham by unveiling their highest profile Tory defector yet - former culture secretary and Boris Johnson ally Nadine Dorries.

That was overshadowed by Angela Rayner's resignation which prompted Nigel Farage to bring forward his speech by three hours.
But the turmoil at the top of the Labour Party was a gift to the Reform UK leader, whose party was already riding high in the polls.
