In today’s video, we welcome our friend Brent Underwood from @GhostTownLiving in Cerro Gordo! Brent makes the trip up to the Cascade mountains to learn the art and science of underground mining as we gear up for our very first blast of the season.
First up, Jason walks Brent through how to safely operate a jackleg drill, from setting the holes to handling the power of the machine. After drilling out the round, Brent gets his first taste of underground drilling himself!
💣 Then comes the exciting part — Jason demonstrates the safe loading of explosives and blasting caps, and with everything set, the two fire off the first blast of Season 3!
The next day, the crew heads back underground to muck out the ore into bags and check out the results of the round. There’s some incredible high-grade rock coming out, and this is just the beginning of an amazing season!
