Behind the song:
Around the time we wrote this song, our dear Aunt Rhonda was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Rhonda was not only a wonderful supporter of our music, but she was also one of our main mentors and champions in life! She was so excited about the new music we were working on and couldn’t wait to hear it.
We can still vividly remember the moment that we sat down to share the first mix of “Give Me This Mountain” with her. As she listened to the lyrics, tears began to fall. We all sat there and cried together as we discussed the seemingly insurmountable mountain she was having to climb. But in that moment she also found a renewed hope and belief that — despite these awful circumstances — the Lord was still there. He was in her corner, and always would be.
Just one month after that tender experience, Aunt Rhonda passed away. We miss her every day. But we know without a doubt that she is somewhere standing ready for whenever God needs to send His angels to help lift us up during our own mountainous trials.
To help us pay tribute to Rhonda and all those who are currently climbing their own mountains, our aunt Gina (Rhonda's sister) facilitated the opportunity for us to shoot this music video in beautiful New Zealand where Gina recently finished a year-long mission trip. So grateful for your service G!
