Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the city of Samara on September 5, where he toured the Kuznetsov engine plant and urged leaders of Russia’s aerospace industry to accelerate the development of booster rocket engines.

During his speech, Putin emphasized Russia’s historical and ongoing leadership in space exploration and stressed the importance of renewing production capacity to compete in global markets.

He also highlighted advances in engine innovation under Western sanctions, discussed the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline project with China, and called for the fast-tracking of the PD-26 high-thrust aircraft engine.
