President Trump and President Putin greet each other in Alaska

The high-stakes bilateral meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska has begun.

The two leaders are discussing an end to the war in Ukraine with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Putin is accompanied by foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The United States is working towards a ceasefire to bring a peaceful end to the three-year war in Ukraine, according to White House Press Secretary Karolina Leavitt.
