In an interview with Middle East Eye, journalist Owen Jones accused Israeli officials of dehumanising Palestinians, destroying Gaza, and starving its population. He said Western governments and media have not only allowed the violence to continue but are now using “hand-wringing” to mask their complicity and avoid future prosecution under the genocide convention. Jones criticised the UK government for maintaining arms sales to Israel while offering only symbolic gestures, such as dangling Palestinian statehood. Although he believes Gaza’s destruction cannot be reversed, he urged immediate action to prevent the Palestinian people from being eradicated entirely.
