Commuters have been warned "do not travel" in parts of the UK, while the Met Office has issued a "danger to life warning" for later this morning as Storm Floris hits the country.
Some trains will stop at 12pm in Scotland, where gusts are likely to reach 80 to 90 mph on some exposed coasts, hills, and bridges, according to the Met Office.
In the Northern UK, do not travel warnings have been issued. Inland areas are likely to be hammered with 40 to 50 mph winds, and gusts between 60 and 70 mph are expected along exposed coasts and high ground, especially in Scotland.
The forecaster has issued amber warnings for much of Scotland, from 10am to 10pm on Monday, August 4. A yellow warning for wind had already been issued for northern parts of the UK from 6am on the same day to 6am on Tuesday.
