The Mount Airy Police Department has identified Mason Kearns as the 13-year-old who died after being swept into a storm drain during Thursday's flash floods. His family is holding a candlelight vigil on Sunday at 8 p.m. at Watkins Park at 615 Center St., Mount Airy. All are welcome to attend. The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Co. is also setting up a donation box for the family at the firehouse at 702 N. Main St. They are requesting monetary donations and gift cards to local restaurants and grocery stores. They are unable to accept premade food.
