The Mount Airy community is reeling after Thursday's flash floods killed a child. A single rose sat Friday atop a storm drain near an apartment complex off Watersville Road less than 24 hours after a 13-year-old boy who was swept into a storm drain. Officials said the teenager was playing with another child nearby when stormwater rushed down the hill, pushing him into the drainage pipe.
