A 13-year-old boy died after getting swept into a drainage pipe while playing with other kids in Mount Airy, an official told 11 News. The boy was with a group of kids playing during flash flooding around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday before stormwater rushed down a hill and the boy was swept into a drainage pipe, according to the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company.
