New speed cameras will be installed in school zones throughout Baltimore City, as well as commercial vehicle height monitoring systems. The Baltimore City Department of Transportation said speed cameras will be installed around Aug. 11 in multiple directions near Barclay Elementary School in the 200-400 blocks of East 29th Street, and Highlandtown Elementary/Middle School in the 3200-3600 blocks of Pulaski Highway. The fine for exceeding the speed limit by more than 12 miles per hour is $40, according to a news release. Officials said the cameras will be permanent or rotating, depending on traffic conditions.
