Construction crew struck gas line in West Baltimore

A construction crew struck a gas line Tuesday morning in West Baltimore. Emergency crews responded to North Bentalou and West Saratoga streets. Fire personnel at the scene said there was little concern because the gas was going into the open air and not into houses or buildings. The principal at Mary Ann Winterling Elementary School had evacuated the building as a precaution, but that has since been lifted, 11 News has learned. Fire crews cleared the scene around 11 a.m. while Baltimore Gas and Electric crews tended to the break.
