Video shows aftermath of Federal Hill shooting

Baltimore police are investigating a shooting that happened in Federal Hill early Sunday when they said that someone shot a 39-year-old woman near South Charles Street. WBAL-TV obtained audio of the shooting and video of the aftermath and has the latest developments from Fed Hill. The quick burst of gun fire created panic and forced people inside a local business to run for cover, huddling behind a countertop to get out of the way. The surveillance video shows one person even leaping over the counter for cover. According to police, a 39-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the 1000 block of South Charles Street. Police said the woman is in stable condition and detectives have a "person of interest" in custody. The violence in Federal Hill frustrates business owners, including one who did not want to be identified for this story. "The current state of Federal Hill. This is the worst that I've seen in the 17 years that I have been down here," the business owner said. Baltimore police reported prior to this shooting another took place on May 17 just a block away. So far this year police have investigated 82 crimes in Federal Hill including 15 aggravated assaults, 14 car thefts, seven robberies and two car jackings. "It just feels lawless down here half the time. The crime is worse than it has been. There's open containers, very minimal police presence and the police presence that is in the neighborhood, they are not doing much at all," the business owner said.
