Howard County residents and environmental advocates rallied Tuesday afternoon to demand protections in the approval process for a plastic recycling research lab. The "Stop Grace Coalition" is calling for the community to fight back against the W.R. Grace and Co., which said its project will explore the first advanced recycling method that could allow plastic to be recycled multiple times without degrading quality or introducing new crude oil. The coalition said it's working to "protect animal habitat, protect our health and stop a plastic recycling plant from coming to Howard County."
