A new animal rescue in Carroll County is doing its part to rehabilitate and rehome animals, but the creatures it serves are not run-of-the-mill pets. Dallas Walter and Lindsay Carver launched Chaos Valley Misfits this spring. As best friends, the two have taken their lifelong passion for exotic animals and turned it into a rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming operation. Animals at their rescue include spiders, boa constrictors and geckos. "Everything here has been an owner surrender," said Walter. "And there's not a large network of people out there to help them and be available for them. So, we wanted to be those people." While some owners find themselves in a situation where they can no longer take care of their little creatures, both Walter and Carver agree that the No. 1 issue that leads to rehoming is a lack of research. "Absolutely no one researches what they're getting themselves into," said Walter. "They think (these creatures) are cool animals. They don't know the husbandry, the lighting, the amount of time and money that goes into these animals. And then, the many years of commitment."
