Public share voices during police accountability hearing in Baltimore

Allegations of police misconduct and how those accusations are handled were the focus of a Baltimore City Council public safety hearing Tuesday. In a packed hearing room plenty of questions about police misconduct and how allegations are handled and resolved. The public safety committee looking into the number of complaints Committee Chairman Mark Conway said "If we cannot deliver accountability in a transparent and equitable and timely manner, we are not honoring either the terms of that agreement or the people it is meant to protect. police officers also deserve a swift and fair process." The Police Accountability Board described issues in investigations including data from the BPD as being inconsistent, delayed or incomplete. Jamal Turner is the Chairman of the accountability board. "The Police Accountability board is not against police officers doing their jobs with integrity. We very much so respect the officers who do their workday in and day out," Turner said.
