It has been four days since 27 people overdosed in the Penn North neighborhood, and Baltimore police are still trying to piece together what happened. Police said they don't have any updates to share on the substance behind the mass overdose situation or who is responsible for distributing the drugs. Meanwhile, outreach continues in Penn North, where groups continued to provide resources. Monday was a different sight than on Friday as the event unfolded, with several groups set up outside all at the same time. Although there are not as many tents or people out all at the same time, there were still groups doing outreach work, including several volunteers. When Peace Team Community Outreach Violence Intervention member Renard Weaver heard about the mass overdose situation, he couldn't help but feel a bit of a sting. "My immediate response was, 'Why wasn't I there?'" Weaver said. Weaver had been in Penn North most days for nearly two years, working with the Peace Team. It's a program that focuses on violence intervention and prevention in partnership with the University of Maryland Baltimore's Embrace Initiative.
