During a meeting with African delegations, President Trump asked the president of Liberia where he learnt to speak English, despite Liberia being an anglophone country.
“Such good English,” he said. “Where did you learn to speak so beautifully? Were you educated? Where?”
The diplomatic faux pas came as Trump hosted the leaders of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania and Senegal — as well as Liberia — in Washington.
