Chaos in Texas Today! Mass Floods Like a Tsunami Destroys Homes, Cars in San Angelo

Heavy rain in Central Texas has led to deadly, catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country, swelling the Guadalupe River to near-record depths overnight. A Walmart store was being used as “a temporary reunification center” for people who had been displaced by the flooding, the Police Department said. The city of Kerrville shared images on social media of the swollen Guadalupe River churning and swiftly moving under a bridge as traffic crawled across it cautiously. The city urged those who live close to the water to move to higher ground immediately. The city’s Fourth of July celebration on the river was canceled because of the flooding, the city said.
A Flash Flood Emergency has been extended along the Guadalupe River from Hunt through Kerrville and Center Point to parts of Kendall County, north of Boerne, until 2 p.m. Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly confirmed six deaths from the catastrophic flooding, with the toll expected to rise. At Comfort, the Guadalupe River surged to 29.86 feet after rising 22 feet in 30 minutes, while at Kerrville it rose 21.6 feet in one hour, now at 11.64 feet. A family tied to law enforcement reports an entire RV park in Ingram was swept downstream with families still inside trailers. Bexar County has deployed emergency teams—including ambulances, rescue boats, drones, and Swiftwater Rescue Technicians—to support search and rescue efforts in the Hill Country following severe flooding.
