The weekend will start with some persistent spells of rain moving through Scotland, Northern Ireland and west and north Wales. Elsewhere showers, at times heavy could arise over much of the UK, although the greatest probability for the heaviest downpour is over northeast England and southern Scotland. These areas could likely see heavy rain, hail, lightning and gusty winds by the early afternoon. Outside of these areas will see sunny spells, especially across the southeast of England.
