The Orange Crush was named the state cocktail of Maryland, and this weekend, the place that stated it all, Harborside Bar and Grill in West Ocean City, is hosting a big party to celebrate. Widely recognized as the birthplace of the Orange Crush, Harborside created the cocktail on a rainy Sunday in October 1995 to drum up business, and it has been a hit ever since. "It was an awful slow day, and those of us who were here tried it and liked it, and we put it on the drink menu and that one took off," Harborside's co-owner, Chris Wall, told 11 News. When coming up with the recipe, Wall told 11 News they had fruit, juicers and newly released orange vodka, combine that with triple sec and lemon-lime soda, and you have the drink now served across Maryland. The party at harborside is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday.
