Amtrak's Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program is modernizing and transforming a 10-mile section of the Northeast Corridor. The company had to demolish buildings for the construction of the Frederick Douglass Tunnel. However, to keep useful items out of landfills, Amtrak's contractor salvaged what it could. In an effort to help the communities affected by the project, Amtrak kicked off its historic salvage program.
