Defendant's mom testifies in school shooting trial

The prosecution rested its case Tuesday in the Joppatowne High School shooting trial, and the defense began calling witnesses, including the defendant's mother. The two sides clashed over how and why Warren Grant, 15, was shot and killed in a school bathroom on Sept. 6, 2024, in between third and fourth periods. The defense said the accused shooter, Jaylen Prince, 16, showed a gun while face to face with Grant because he was scared, it fired by accident and he regrets that. Witnesses for the state told the jury how Prince's own actions in real life and online prove otherwise. The state called witnesses in an effort to prove premeditation.
