With a drop in the Chesapeake Bay blue crab population come higher prices. The 2025 Blue Crab Winter Dredge Survey shows the number of Maryland crabs dropped to the second lowest level since the survey started in 1990. Some seafood stores are scrambling to keep crabs in stock, like at Gibby's Seafood in Timonium, where crabs are running out the door.
