Police officers called for a missing person in distress shot a man armed with a knife Thursday night. Baltimore County police said officers were called around 9:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Pine Road in Essex. Police said officers found a man armed with a knife and ordered him to drop the knife, but the man did not comply. Police said an officer fired his gun during attempts to get the man to comply, striking him. The man was taken to a hospital but his condition was not released by police. Residents told 11 News that officers shot the man about a block away from the initial call on Beach Road.
