President Trump said he plans to name a more permanent National Security Adviser within the next six months while speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One Sunday evening. Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller "is at the top of the totem pole" of potential candidates for the job, Trump said.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was named interim National Security Adviser last week after Mike Waltz was ousted and instead nominated to serve as ambassador to the United Nations.
President Trump also told reporters that he would be willing to use U.S. military force in Mexico against the cartels.
“If Mexico wanted help with the cartels, we would be honored to go in and do it. I told her [Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum] that I would be honored to go in and do it—the cartels are trying to destroy our country," Trump said.
