A crash closed both directions of Interstate 70 in Howard County for hours Wednesday morning. The Maryland State Highway Administration said I-70 was blocked at Maryland Route 32 in West Friendship. Traffic was detoured around the incident via Maryland Routes 97, 144 and 32. Maryland State Police told 11 News that troopers were called around 6:40 a.m. to the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Maryland Route 32 for a crash involving three tractor-trailers. SHA said the cleanup effort was extensive because the crash left roof trusses strewn across the eastbound lanes of the highway. The left lane was reopened by 11 a.m., CHART showed. The westbound lanes reopened mid-morning, state police said.
