There are new concerns about funding the Pimlico Race Course redevelopment plan, 11 News Investigates has learned. On Tuesday, a member of the Maryland Stadium Authority charged that the Maryland Thoroughbred Racetrack Operating Authority is not making its books available. Serious accusations include a lack of transparency and accountability. The state created MTROA to oversee the transition of Pimlico's private ownership to a new nonprofit entity, as well as the demolition of the racetrack and its reconstruction. An MSA board member characterized the transformation of Pimlico as a tortured process with many twists and turns, and this latest development is just the latest among them.
