'Principal Mo' wins award for school's success

When people walk the halls of Forest Park High School, they see Principal Nina Mouzone greeting students, correcting them, giving them hugs and showing off her signature green lipstick. Mouzone, affectionately called "Principal Mo," was a longtime teacher in schools across Baltimore City and Baltimore County before becoming the principal at Forest Park High School five years ago. Since then, she has transformed the school. Under her leadership, the school's graduation rate improved to 75%, and enrollment increased from 600 to 1,000 students. Mouzone attributes these results to changing the school culture and breaking traditional administrative norms. She and her school leaders step into classrooms to teach and work alongside teachers.
