Shock spy plot to recruit Chinese informers for US in chilling CIA video

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has created a video campaign aimed at convincing Chinese citizens to spy for the US government.

The CIA has put out two cinematic, Mandarin-language videos, inviting Chinese government workers to report information on the Chinese Communist Party to the CIA.

Text under one video asks Chinese workers to share high-level information about national security, trade, diplomacy, or high-tech policies. The CIA says it can help Chinese citizens “find peace in this unstable situation,” according to a machine translation.

The videos depict the lives of two disillusioned and frustrated government workers, one junior and one senior, who decide to contact the CIA.
