Project builds development for unhoused people

Project PLASE held a ceremonial groundbreaking for a new development that, once renovated, will become a home for people formerly unhoused. The project, which stands for People Lacking Ample Shelter and Employment, will turn the area into Beacon House Square. Project PLASE wants it to be a light in the community. A 70,000 square-foot building in Irvington used to be the St. Joseph Monastery School built more than 160 years ago. Beacon Communities and Project PLASE will move in the homeless with a preference for veterans when renovations are complete.
