This is the moment the iconic Sycamore Gap tree was chopped down in the dead of night by two pals who bragged about the vandalism in voice notes, a court heard.

The grainy mobile phone footage shows a man at the foot of the 49ft-high tree as a chainsaw can clearly be heard.
