Stress is a normal biological occurrence; the fight-or-flight response is part of human survival. But, sometimes, it's too much to take, and you have an acute reaction when your heart rate increases, your breathing gets heavier and you feel nauseous. Experts say there are ways to immediately reduce that stress response. Dr. Kim Anderson, the regional clinical director of the East Region at the Eating Recovery Center/Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Center, told 11 News that one important way to keep acute stress at bay is to get enough sleep, and that, in combination with regular exercise, can really help with how your body responds to stress.
