Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador on April 16 in order to check on the well-being of Garcia as well as meet with officials from the government about his release. Van Hollen said Wednesday that he met with the vice president of El Salvador to see if he could meet with Abrego Garcia.
