Baltimore City Schools CEO discusses $48 million budget gap

The Baltimore City School Board met on Tuesday night as the school system faces a $48 million budget hole this year. Tuesday night, Baltimore City Schools CEO Sonja Santelises spoke with 11 News about a budget hole. Prior to this occurring, we were not anticipating having major cuts that we hadn't planned for, so its really the unexpected nature of this," Santelises said. The federal government recently announced that it will not re-imburse the school system $48 million in COVID-19 relief funds. Because of that, the school system announced is ending tutoring programs at 25 schools and after school programs at 44 sites will end later this week.
