Worley on homicide decline in Baltimore: 'It's still too high'

While Baltimore sees a decrease in homicides continuing further into the year, the police commissioner said his department can't take all the credit — and there remains much more work to do. Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley told 11 News in an interview Monday afternoon that a group effort contributes to a trend that's following years of declines in both homicides and non-fatal shootings. So far this year, there have been 37 homicides in Baltimore City, marking a 23% drop from this time last year, when there were 48 homicides. In 2022, at this point in that year, the city recorded 87 homicides, which represents a 57% drop today. Worley told 11 News he's proud of his officers, but there's a long way to go.
