A Jewish school in Baltimore County faces a lawsuit over child sexual abuse allegations dating back decades. A former student filed a lawsuit against the Talmudical Academy of Baltimore, claiming abuse by Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro in the 1970s. Shapiro has since died. At the time, Shapiro was a dormitory counselor at the school, and the suit alleges the survivor came forward as a result of the Maryland Child Victim's Act of 2023, which eliminated the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse lawsuits.
