Ticket pre-sales for A Minecraft Movie have set a major record. The upcoming video game adaptation, directed by Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, centers on a group of people who are transported via portals to the unconventional and cubic Overworld. A Minecraft Movie cast includes Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, and Jack Black, who portrays avatar Steve. The film has a budget of $150 million and, considering the existing fandom, could go on to become a successful game adaptation following its April 4 release.

Fandango has now announced that A Minecraft Movie, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the ticketing service’s best PG-rated ticket pre-seller of 2025. The film has exceeded other PG releases, including Dog Man, Paddington in Peru, and Snow White, in pre-sales at the same point in the sales cycle. It is also one of the three highest-earning video game adaptations in early sales on Fandango at the same point in the sales cycle, along with The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
