Disney was on a tight budget to get this film made in the post-war 1940s, so they scraped together props and had the whole story acted out and shot on a soundstage before drawing the sequences.
You can see the references are layed out almost identically to the animation as well as how much Helene Stanley embodies not only the titular Cinderella, but stepsister Anastasia as well. That’s talent!
I’m still waiting on any of this lost footage to be recovered, but at least we’ll always have the makeshift Bruno with a Goofy head to remember!
