In Annapolis, an interfaith rally was held in support of legislation aimed at protecting immigrants. People marched from Calvary United Methodist Church to Lawyer's Mall in downtown Annapolis. On Monday, WBAL-TV joined them as the group shared the message: "No justice, no peace! No ICE in our streets!" Marylanders of various faiths took to the streets of Annapolis Monday. They came together over a unified concern, the treatment of immigrants. "Faith leaders joining CASA, standing with us to say, in Maryland, we welcome our immigrant neighbors, and we will support them," Ninfa Amador-Hernandez, policy analyst for CASA, said. They're backing CASA's "Immigrant Protection Package," that is currently in the statehouse and includes three main pieces of legislation: • The "Protecting Sensitive Locations Act" ensures people can access hospitals, schools and courthouses without fear of immigration enforcement. • The "Maryland Data Privacy Act" prevents ice from obtaining access to state and local agency databases without a warrant. • The "Maryland Values Act" ends agreements that allow local police to act as ICE agents.
