In this video I will go over how to create and use 256 colour background tiles. I will show how to manage, your colour palette, to allow you to swap graphics and colours, easily. I will also show you how I create levels, using images rather than, complex level designer programs. Which tend to be not well suited to creating complex scenes, which require you to have total control of the level data. I also explain how the DS arranges its tilemaps, when sizes greater then 32x32 are selected and which sizes work best for certain game types. I also show how to use directional sprite graphics, for a player. And show how I create 256 colour sprites and tiles in my own programs and use the GIMP open source image editor to convert them to indexed colour images.
