Blizzard Conditions: Family Winter Camping in Ripping Wind & -30 Temperatures

In this video, we embark on a thrilling winter camping adventure with our kids, heading back to the same backcountry campsite we accessed in the summer via canoe while filming our NatGeo series Home in the Wild. This time, the journey is much more challenging as we brave a fierce blizzard to reach our destination. Despite the snowstorm, we’re greeted with sunny skies after we set up camp, though temperatures remain bone-chillingly cold at -30°C. The experience is an incredible blend of family bonding, survival skills, and the raw beauty of the wilderness. We also take a snowmobile ride back to our truck along a different route, which offers breathtaking views of the Canol Rapids on the Magnetawan River.
