GTA Vice City - Definitive Edition vs Nextgen Edition - Comparison

In this video I compare GTA Vice City The Definitive Edition with the Nextgen Edition made by fans. Fans who love their favourite game did a better job than those who worked on the official remake. It is fair to say, however, that the team of the Nextgen Edition used some assets from the official remake, most importantly the map. This allowed them to make the mod in 2 years and release it before GTA VI.

Previously, the team worked on Vice City 2 that brought Vice City to GTA IV. I also made a video about it on my channel. Interestingly enough, they changed the timeline and placed Tommy Vercetti in the modern era. They modeled 1/4 of the map themselves. Their map was more detailed than the one from the official remake. For their new Nextgen Edition they decided to leave their map from their previous project behind and used the map of the official remake as it was. As you can see in the video, they made some changes, like adding new interiors.

This is easily the best mod that GTA IV has ever seen. The only drawback for me was the cars. They seem to be overscaled. Plus, the handling of some of the cars is not optimized. Once I made a request to the modders on one of their public streams that the cars be rescaled. They said that would require more time that they did not have. I totally understand that. Don't take this as criticism. I am just sharing my observations. Hopefully, in the future somebody will release a car pack for this mod that fixes some of the issues.

Given that the mod is for free, you can't really complain about anything. The mod is great, yet it is better than the official remake.
