This album dives into a blackened icy maelstrom which is a signature of this project, characterised by lo-fi black metal approach but also blending the raw aggression with atmospheric elements. This aesthetic is mostly brought by the relentless guitar distortion and pounding percussion.
Track four breaks the mould with a purely synth-driven soundscape. Here, hypnotic dark ambient melodies permeate the atmosphere, offering a brief respite from the album's intensity.
Despite this detour, “Frost covered Fortress” walls stay firmly rooted in the duality of these two black metal subgenres, while allowing once again for this act to show its ability to balance brutality with atmosphere in a fine, punishing and immersive way.
