I saw how frustrated players are with this mission and I've been meaning to get a video together to explain a strategy that's been working for me since launch on these missions. It's far from the only strategy that works, but it's pretty straightforward and has no convoluted tricks involved. I have cleared this mission on helldive difficulty with the same strategy, albeit with only my most coordinated premade group. For pubs, this is easily reproducible on diff 7, probably even 8. For the purpose of recording the video, I only had access to pub groups over the last week.
Main points:
- Everyone should bring both the EMS and regular mortar.
- 1 person should run an anti-infantry loadout, usually grenade launcher/supply pack
- 2 people should run anti-tank loadouts
- 1 person should run a medium (autocannon, railgun, etc)
- Heavy armor is good since mobility is less important
- An extra EAT or two on top of the main loadouts is super useful
- OR orbital laser or other ordnance strategms are good to help clean up emergencies
- Mortars should be placed around the escape platform. These will do most of the heavy lifting so don't forget to refresh them.
- Drop ships always drop off new waves around the same 4 zones around the map. There's a couple good angles you can see all of these spots from and kill the squads before they mobilize
- Try and hit the doors as soon as you land, if you do it right you can kick off the mission with 18 hostages rescued before any bots start to attack.
- WHEN SOMEONE DIES DROP EVERYTHING AND REINFORCE (ideally near their body)
- Impact grenades can take out a tank if your other ATs are encumbered. Aim for the turret. 2 will do the job.
- Make sure the door buttons are being hit religiously. The faster you clear the main objective the easier this mission is, and the longer the doors stay green without being hit, the more chance for things to get out of control.
